How it Works

Building on the concept of Model UN, participants take on the role of country diplomats/officials or interest groups – not their own constituency – and debate, negotiate, reach compromises on solutions based on the procedures of the Arctic Council.

The main objective of MAC is to bring youth together and provide a forum where the sharing of ideas and ideals and peer education can be encouraged in the context of learning about the Arctic Council and discussing some of the world’s most pressing international issues.

The Model Arctic Council will build skills including: research, organization, writing, debating, lobbying, negotiation, cooperation and compromise, while at the same time showcase the unique and important Arctic Council to a new generation of future leaders.
